Madagasar Tree Boa - Sanzinia madagascariensis

Mandarin phase

These medium size boas originate from across Madagascar with the exception of the  extreme southwest. There are 2 colour variations.  The Mandarin form which is dark green and brown with yellowish and cream dorsal saddles grows bigger than the Green phase and adult lengths can be 6-7 feet.  The Mandarin form occurs mostly on the Western side of the species range.

My collection comprises both forms from several unrelated bloodlines.

They have an undeserved reputation for being aggressive and eager to strike but I have found the reverse to be true.  They are generally calm and reluctant to bite - unless there is food in the vicinity. They are easy to care for and maintain.
