 The Toffee Ball python project

We have many beautiful Royal Pythons morphs here but the Toffee deserves its own page.

This simple recessive mutation is in a league of its own and nothing comes close to this mutation in my opinion.

I decided a couple of years ago when the Toffee was unveiled by the Urban Python that this would feature in my collection one day.

It is the mutation that truly excites me and when you see one in person it’s hard not to be captivated by their true beauty - and I'm not the only one - dozens of my previous customers are asking me for Toffees and it still is the must have mutation for the serious collector and breeder and the future looks very promising for this project.

You can read about the original Toffee on The Urban Python site

When Paul Angelides proved out the gene in 2009 my mind was made up to acquire this gene into the collection.

I really wanted one of Paul’s and would have gladly purchased his adults or sub adults but unsurprisingly he didn’t wish to part with them at any cost so I had to wait.

So I waited and then in late June 2011 the Toffino ‘revelation’ hit the forums.

Not sure what the Toffino debate is all about - visit Bush Leagues Breeders Club for a long read and make your own mind up.

As soon as I saw this news the provenance for Toffee animals became a whole lot more critical.

I had to secure pure Toffee stock as I suspected that once Toffino’s are produced in numbers which they surely will be by the look of the plans being touted around already, then in future if you want to be 100% sure that your Toffee is actual Toffee then there are not many places for you to go (and there were not that many places to start with.... the small list of trusted Toffee breeders seems to have got that little bit smaller recently!)

As for my own Toffee stock there was only one place to go to be honest - So I’m glad as the Toffino news circulated and the debate raged that Paul Angelides hatched out some Toffees and 100% Hets which I promptly secured and without hesitation..as I say provenance was paramount for me and I am able to track and verify Paul's breedings through his animals right back to the original Toffee

I’ve secured my Toffee stock now from a genuine trustworthy guy and the one that proved up the gene so I’m more than happy and in future I will in turn be bale to offer pure Toffee animals of known provenance.

I aim to incorporate the Toffee gene into other simple recessive mutations starting with Toffee Clowns as well of course producing pure Toffees.

Sure the double recessive morphs will take a bit of time but I’m in no rush - it’s not about their monetary value and I don’t need to recover my capital outlay as I don’t see them as an investment.

I will post photos' after each shed so you an see the remarkable colour change  that this mutations goes through.

In the meantime I will continue to spend far too much time day dreaming about the toffee project and its incredible potential.
